Today, I had to give a power point presentation. I had a very beautiful pictures to use for the presentation. However, I neglected to practice a little more with the Power Point. I thought that I had to advance the slides manually. I had actually set up the slides to be timed.
Others saw this mistake. However, I carried on with my presentation. I made some apologies, as each slide was showing up at the wrong time, when I was talking. Others did notice that I was a little annoyed. They took on a different lesson. They saw that it is okay to be imperfect, even though I have had a lot of experience in our club. They saw how I carried on and they were inspired by my perseverance.
I hope that when I make mistakes that my kids can see that it is okay to make mistakes. It is okay to be imperfect. It is okay to go beyond what you know and take some risks, and come out the other side okay. I hope they see that we can survive the slightest flubs. I hope they see that they can take away lessons from their mishaps. I encourage them to try new things and learn from those experiences.
