My daughter and I went to the museum. She enjoyed interacting with the exhibits. She loved the dinosaurs. She was fascinated by them. Little did she know that if they were alive today, they could snap her up in an instant. She was happy. Then we went to the mummy exhibit. She told me that she felt it was creepy.
I did share her sentiments. She borrowed my camera. She began snapping pictures. There was an exhibit about how the Egyptians lived. She took more pictures. I just let her wander. Viewing the pictures from her perspective, was funny. She took a picture of a sarcophagus at just the right angle and it appeared as if something could push it’s way out in an instant.
Some of the mummys were masked and unmasked. How often do we put on a mask? How often are we afraid to exhibit ourselves for the world to see? How often do we hold back? How often do we put a perceived image of ourselves for the world to see? How about taking off the mask. Under the masks we all have similar wants and needs. We are all humans, trying to make our way in this world, and pushing past obstacles. Kids live unmasked.
