Cleaning Up

Today is a day of rest. However, there is work to be done. The kids rested Monday through Saturday. They did help out occasionally with bringing in the groceries and washing the dishes when asked. One of them continually finds a way to make excuses and get out of it.

One of them is my toughest child to deal with. She has a strong spirit. Her path is set in motion. There is no stopping her. When asked to deviate from her plan, she will put up a fight. Although, I admire her spirit, I want her to comply with my request.

You can’t make anyone do anything in this world. I will find another technique. She likes to compete. I know this. So, I have to make a game out of competing with a prize. Over the years, I have gotten smarter about it. It is not going to be the prize that she will receive. Rather, she will get points toward a prize that she will get at a later date.

It requires consistency and teamwork on our parts. If both parents are not on board, it does not work. If it is not reinforced daily, it is not effective. I will clean up my act and then get the kids cleanning.
