The kids are settled in after a long day of school and homework. They are not around me. They are having fun amongst themselves. They are occupied with what they want to do before bed.
It is a slow night. There are not a lot of activities to do on a cold rainy night. I have instilled in them a love of reading. They may be actively playing using their imaginations.
They know how to keep themselves busy. This is a good thing. They are hiding from Mom and Dad. They are working independently on keeping themselves occupied. It is not a good thing when kids cling to heavily to their parents. I want them to get used to being by themselves and working independently of us. This is good training for when they are adults. It does not mean that we don’t check on them. It means that we allow them their space.
