Tidy up

Are there areas of your life that seem to be falling apart? Do you feel like you have no where to turn? There are benefits to tidying up your home. I make my kids help. They actually want to help. We make it a game. Who can clean up the fastest. “Maybe, you will get a prize,” is what I say. It is good to do this as a family.

When everyone pitches in. This takes no time at all. It helps bring about good will and teamwork in the family. It is good to reinforce positive behavior. My kids just started doing things around the house. I am sure to heap on lots of praise. Maybe they missed a spot here and there, but I don’t want to discourage them.

Another benefit of having everyone help clean up the house, is that I have more time to spend with them, doing something a lot more fun. They are motivated to clean because they get more quality time with Mom and Dad when they do what they are supposed to do. In working together they are learning the value of hard work. They are also learning some negotiating skills and project management skills. They love to keep things tidy, now.
