My kids listened to me today. My daughter helped me mix the batter for some pancakes. I let them help with breakfast. We all worked together. It was a lot of fun. We like to make meals and crafts together. I told them to get dressed before they ate. They did it. There was no argument.
My daughter asked me why we have to put the ingredients that we did into the mix. I told her it would not be a pancake if we did not mix the right ingredients in. It is important to have a system in place to follow or you won’t like the results. If you want to get the right results, you have be sure to use the right ingredients. Kids need the right instruction to get the right results.
I had to communicate my expectations clearly. I also had to listen to them. I had to be fully present with them today. I also praised them for their assistance and for listening to me. I did not get mad, when they did not listen at first. I stayed calm. I repeated myself and made sure I gave clear instructions. With pancakes or anything else, it is wise to have a clear recipe to follow.
