Being a parent is difficult. It is probably one of the most difficult things I have done. You don’t know how those little ones are going to turn out. When they are born, you look at them with so much love. You hear them cry and you want to check on them. As a parent you never stop worrying about them. Most days we are trying to hang on to what we must do. Then there is this little one filling up our days.
No one tells you what to expect. There is no hand book . We can only do the best we can do. Why is it so difficult to raise children? There are lots of reasons. We learned from others that may have learned some bad things. Also, there are some bad things in media. We have to be on guard. Times have changed. My grandmother raised eight kids. One day she looked at me and said,” I don’t know how you do it.” I was shocked. I only have three kids. I don’t do it all. I have help. In order to accomplish all that I want to accomplish I had to hire one person to watch my kids and one person to help me clean.
Getting my self care in, is important. Even if it is only time to write or read a book. We need to take time to find humour in our days. Laughing at ourselves is key. Moms stop feeling guilty about taking care of yourself. Dads too! If we don’t take of ourselves, who will?
