That is easy. After writing several blog posts, and talking with several teachers, I feel the U.S. needs to overhaul the way they educate their children. It won’t be done by the Government. They are too heavily invested in dumbing down the masses. There are schools that offer different programs. There are not a lot of Montessori schools that go beyond Kindergarten. Schools teach us to conform and become good employees. Oliver DeMille talks about a Thomas Jefferson Education, in his book titled as such. Whereby the parents create the curriculum and teach the children to read about court cases and the law. Television and video games are allowed less than 1 hour per day, if at all. I think this may be the solution. However, I think there needs to be a network of others who do this, to support parents who want to implement it. They could collaborate, use social media, meet regularly and share resources. There are materials out there that could support this. There must be someone who can pull all of the resources together and give the parents a blue print to get their children on the right track.

What difference do I want to make?
Making an impact on the world is no simple task. I want to help future generations to become great people. Helping children may ultimately help their families and the next generation. Changing the lives of my own children is one thing, but changing the lives of many children would have many far-reaching ripple effects. A change in the way children think can lead to better thinking adults. When children realize that they have a choice in how they react to certain situations, they can better navigate in the world. The world could use more people who are making better choices as adults. Turning back to the time-tested principles and values starts with teaching them to the future generations.
What is my elevator pitch?
This entails several questions that I have to ask. I don’t like to talk about my current job. Doing something else would make me happier. What am I excited about? Not my current job. To analyze this in further detail, I will break it down. Dealing with people who do not understand basic common courtesy, outdated technology, slow computer systems, office politics, antiquated ways of doing business, bureaucracy, being accused of things that I did not do, being held over a fire for things other people did not do, and being told what to do are all things that I do not like. Sorry to sound a little pessimistic.
What really excites me is working independently, psychology, art, science, technology, photography, writing, meeting new people, helping people, teaching people, learning from other people, and being around people who are great thinkers, and occasionally working with other people. Why am I excited about it? People are interesting to me and I feel I can excel in these areas. There are a lot of people who are hurting out there. If I have information that can help them, then I feel I have accomplished something. Also, I feel there are areas where I cannot help people as in my current position, where there is a lot of frustration.
How will what I want to do serve people? Who will it serve are tougher questions. Sometimes people are funny. They may not realize they need help, but if it is made to be fun, it will help them. I believe the general populace can be helped. The areas I work in may best be suited to working with children. If you can mold young minds, they will be great thinkers as adults.
How does it uniquely tie into my story, passions, talents and/or experience? Well, I am a mother. I do love to help my children. Currently, I do belong to several groups that believe in helping others through getting better information and surrounding yourself with people who have similar goals.
Why do I care and why should the world care? Because the children are the future. Helping the children will help them become better thinking adults. The world could use more thinking, caring, respectful, and enlightened children.
What am I most proud of?
I am proud of the fact that I love to learn. I keep stretching myself. Learning new things and trying them out is fun. Along those lines, I am proud of the fact that I handled myself well, in a few situations. I took the high road. I have to remember to do that more often. Getting back to who I need to be to help me relate to others is important. I know I need to change in some areas and continue to improve. For publically admitting this, I am also proud. Producing this blog and reaching out to others makes me proud. Remembering to be humble is most important.
Where does the time go?
When I set out to write this blog, I wanted to take a journey of self discovery. Today, I got to do what I love. At work, I planned a party. I decorated for the party. Others love how it turned out. It is easy for me to have a vision with something like that. I got to be creative and show my appreciation for my co-workers. Whether or not they fully appreciate the effort that goes into what I do, matters not. My regular job is very dry and monotonous and does not allow for a lot of creativity. I saw, a meme that reminded me of how I feel at my regular job, today. When you are bored at work, you actually start to do your job. Sad but true commentary on the state of what I currently do. When I follow what I love, it is as if time flies. There is nothing else I would rather be doing.
